A Kaleidoscope of colour and methods

Colour can be an eye catching and dynamic addition to a piece of jewellery and there are many ways to add colour to Silver Clay – Resin, Alcohol ink, Mica, Enamel, even colouring pencils to name just a few. But where to start?

This presentation is an overview of various techniques looking at what effects can be achieved and what’s involved, as well as how these can alter the style of a piece. During the presentation, we will look at investment of time and money, the skills needed, and the effect different methods can add to your pieces. There will be short demonstrations of Mica, Alcohol ink and Enamel.

Presenter - Wizz Stearne, UK

I create imaginative pieces of fine art jewellery in Silver Clay, capturing inspiration ranging from the engineering innovations of the industrial revolution, to the beautiful countryside of my Cotswold home.

Through extensive materials exploration during my degree, and continuing my journey with different mediums, I developed a passion for Silver Clay. Silver Clay became a form of therapy during a difficult time in my life; it gives me focus and escapism. It allows me to express my creativity in pieces that are meaningful to the individual, encompassing emotion.

It's my privilege to share my passion with my students. I love to watch their pieces develop, as they themselves develop skills and confidence with the magic of Silver Clay.
