Presentation: Use Your Teaching To Maximise Your Retail Sales
Presenter: Richard Allen
Learn how I structure my workshops to upsell my kits, tools and materials. See how I have designed my workshop demonstrations to help upsell products and must-haves, including future workshops and one to one consultations, to my students who are excited about the start of their metal clay journey.
I also explain how to create a temporary retail display in even the smallest of areas wherever you’re teaching and how to encourage your students to get what they need from you, now and in the future. And how I include branded products, including my own, into my classes for people to buy.
Look at how to maintain that long term relationship so that whatever they need, whether it is equipment, tools or more tuition, it’s you they think of first.

Presenter – Richard Allen, UK
Although I have a personnel and recruitment background, I have been creating and restoring jewellery for nearly 40 years as a hobby. But, after discovering the magic of silver clay several years ago, I decided to turn my hobby into a business.
As with most people, the route to selling your work is through craft fairs, online or renting space in gift shops and, for me, it was no different.
But, by having several pieces on display in various exhibitions in the UK and also Japan meant that I could demonstrate how important the fundamentals are and that’s why I began teaching. Introducing silver clay to a new audience has always been the fun part of teaching and it’s always a pleasure to see the delight on someone’s face as they hold the first piece of silver they made themselves.
Today I teach in my own studio and sell a range of kits, tools and accessories to beginners at the start of their creative journey.
