What time each day is Metal Clay Live?
We are running the event 9am to 5pm ET (US East Coast).
If you are in the UK, that’s 2pm to 10pm BST.
If you are not sure about the time in your location use timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter
I am new to teaching and haven't taught online. Should I bother applying to teach a workshop?
Absolutely! Maybe offer a half-day beginners’ class rather than an advanced 2-day workshop.
We have an experienced team at Metal Clay Live and are committed to helping new teachers to gain the experience of teaching virtually. You will have access to an online training session plus a tech check before the event.
Can I propose a workshop that I have previously taught or currently teach online?
Yes, as long as you are not teaching it at another online event between April 1 and July 18, 2025.
Can I propose a workshop that I have previously taught or currently teach in person?
Yes.
Can a workshop be demonstration only, or should I expect students to work alongside me?
No, workshops should not be demonstration only.
Workshops should be in a work-along style, where you factor in time for students to work. A student can choose to just sit, listen, and watch if they do not want to work along.
It is okay to teach the workshop up to the point of firing and then let students finish on their own, as long as you give clear instructions and/or a demonstration on firing and have a piece pre-fired to show how to finish it or any finishing steps.
Firing and finishing should be included in the handout.
I want to teach a workshop. Why do I also have to present a session?
AMCAW’s vision for the Metal Clay Live includes a robust virtual experience for a large number of attendees, plus an exciting selection of workshops for those who wish to participate in that way. By asking our top-notch workshop instructors to also present a session during the main event, we will ensure that the slate of presentations meets the high standards that this community deserves.
Can I submit more than one workshop and/or presentation proposal?
You are able to teach multiple workshops and/or presentations.
Only one presentation is required regardless of the number of workshops proposed.
I submitted an application, but didn't receive a confirmation email. Should I be worried?
If you saw the screen at the end of the submission process that said “Success” and listed your entry details, then your application was processed. Please check your junk/spam folder for the confirmation email. If your email program has a “promotions” or “other” tab, check there as well. If you still can’t find the confirmation email, feel free to contact us at info@metalclaylive.com to confirm your application was received.
Are there any ways to apply other than using the online form?
The selection panel will consider applications submitted only using our online entry process. This will allow the panelists to more effectively evaluate the options presented to them. We’ve tested the system extensively to ensure it functions well and is easy to use. Please contact us at info@metalclaylive.com with any issues or feedback about the process.
When do I need to join AMCAW in order to submit an application?
You can submit an application without being a member of AMCAW, but membership is required at the time of the event.
To ensure eligibility, your membership should be current starting from April 1, 2025, or not expire before June 1, 2025.
Where do I go if I have further questions?
